Case management and advocacy skills play a fundamental role in facilitating comprehensive support and empowering individuals, fostering positive outcomes and improving the overall well-being of diverse and vulnerable populations. This certificate program is designed for individuals seeking to acquire skills and knowledge and/or enhance their proficiency in assessing, planning, coordinating, and monitoring services to meet the diverse needs of clients and communities. Since the human services field involves a wide range of populations, social issues, crises, and disciplines, the certificate provides flexibility for students to tailor the curriculum to meet their specific needs.

A graduate will be able to:

  • Apply theoretical knowledge and skills to a wide range of client situations
  • Conduct thorough client assessments, including the identification of strengths and needs
  • Develop comprehensive and individualized service plans
  • Apply ethical principles and standards to case management and advocacy services
  • Understand various micro, mezzo, and macro factors that impact a client and/or community
