CAHS 220 - Microbiology (3) A course for students in the health and life sciences, to be taken concurrently with the 1-credit laboratory. The course will emphasize the impact of microorganisms on human health and disease, including identification and control pathogens, the mechanisms of pathogenicity and disease transmission, host resistance, and immunity. Other aspects of microbiology will also be considered, including basic microbial metabolic activities and their role in nutrient cycling and as experimental subjects; biotechnology and recombinant DNA will be introduced.
Prerequisite(s): CAHS 125 - ~Introduction to College Chemistry (4) or CAHS 127 - ~General, Organic & Biochem I (4)
