CAHS 127 - ~General, Organic & Biochem I (4) This course is designed as the first in a one year sequence of courses intended for nursing or other allied health students who intend to transfer to a four year academic institution which requires a two semester sequence course in General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB). This course will include an overview of the Metric System, Scientific Notation, Temperature Scales, Density, Atoms, Structure, Isotopes, Electrons, Periodic Table, Chemical Formulae, Types of Chemical Reactions, Quantification of Chemical Reactions, Mass, Moles, Energy, Kinetic, Potential, Law of Conservation of Energy, Thermochemistry, Matter, pH, Fission, Fusion, Functional Groups and Names, and General Organic Reactions to Form Functional Groups. This course sequence could also provide an eight credit General Education Science sequence. The course consists of a lecture portion and a laboratory portion.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 100 - Math Essentials (3) or placement
