Criminal Justice, A.A.S.

The Criminal Justice AAS degree introduces students to various topics related to criminal justice and the law, such as corrections, criminal investigation, American court systems, and police organization and management.  Students will also be introduced to fields of study that impact the criminal justice field, such as abnormal psychology and crisis intervention.  

Program Outcomes

Students completing the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice will be able to:

  • Possess the basic skills of writing, reading for information, critical thinking, and applied mathematics necessary to be successful in the criminal justice field.
  • Discuss the history and philosophy of the components of the criminal justice system.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of various criminal justice practitioners.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current issues, concepts, and theories of criminal justice.
  • Exhibit professional conduct in a criminal justice organization including legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of career options in the criminal justice field
