ENGL 102 - ~Writing for the Arts & Hum (3)


The goals for Writing for the Arts and Humanities are to develop students’ critical reading, thinking, and writing skills as they discuss and write about a variety of literary genres: fiction, poetry, and drama. The readings for this course include American, British, and world literature selections and students will take a thematic approach, as well as studying characteristics of the genres, applying close reading skills, and completing the textual analysis. Students will receive instruction in research techniques. In addition, students become familiar with and cultivate an appreciation for stylistic characteristics of each genre and the timeless insights into the human condition provided through reading and study of literature.
