Message from the President

Welcome to (or back) to Blue Ridge Community and Technical College!

Each year, there are two events I look forward to: the start of a new semester and our graduation celebration. Your journey as a student at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College may be one that is just beginning or one that will soon lead to commencement. No matter where you are in your journey, I am excited that you have selected Blue Ridge CTC for your education.

During this academic year, you will see several projects that will enhance your experience as a student:

-          We are expanding our Technology Center in order to accommodate four new programs: Chemical Operator Technician, Instrumentation Process, Robotics, and Renewable Energy. The total square footage of that location mirrors that of our Main Campus.   Health Information Management is being added to our Headquarters Building.

-          Our Division of Business and Technology has been restructured and renamed the School of Professional Studies and University Transfer. We are actively signing new articulation agreements to support a seamless transfer from our institution into 4 year colleges and universities.

-          Finally, this Fall we will complete our Reaffirmation of Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. Maintaining this status provides confidence in your selection in an institution of Higher Learning. Accreditation allows us to offer Financial Aid, ensures we have qualified Faculty, and verifies your credits.  This process of reaffirmation is vital to the operation of a College.

Without a doubt, our students are the essence of everything we do.  We are proud to serve our diverse student population and provide the community with a skilled workforce.  I encourage you to explore the many services we offer; from the fantastic Café to tutoring to Career Services.  Check your calendar for our many student activities.  Whether you are taking courses online or on campus, our student services are here to support you.   We have a fantastic staff ready to help you.

It is my hope that you have a great experience at Blue Ridge CTC.  As I have said before, every student matters and that includes YOU.

Best Wishes,

Dr. Peter G. Checkovich
